Our 3m clear span marquee brings you all the feels of an outdoor event with all of the comforts of being indoors. Question: What sized structure do I need for my event?
Answer: As a general rule of thumb we like to allow 1m2 per person for a standing / cocktail event and 1.5m2 per person for a seated event, plus two extra bays if you would like to include a bar, band and a dance floor. If you are still having trouble working this out please contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Question: How is this marquee secured to the ground?
Answer: Our marquees are pegged using one 900mm anchoring stakes at the base of every leg. Therefore for a 3m x 15m structure, we would be using hydraulic rammers to peg 12 pegs at a depth of 900mm into the ground. If this is not achievable on your chosen marquee site for any reason, then we can substitute each anchoring stake for a 320kg concrete weight. However this does come at an additional expense as the weights are very heavy and require a forklift to move them around. Please talk to us for a quote.
Question: Is this marquee suitable in extreme weather conditions?
Answer: Our clear span marquees are engineered to withstand up to 100km per hour. However, once the wind speeds exceed 90km per hour, the marquee must be evacuated and all of the walls closed and secured. In the event of forecasted high temperatures, clear roof panels are strongly discouraged. Walls can be opened like a giant shower curtain to allow air flow through the marquee and re-laced as the temperatures cool down in the evening. Please note if wall panels are left off or removed, they cannot be reinstalled once the event takes place.
Question: If I hire a marquee, when will it be set up and when do you come back to take it down?
Answer: Generally speaking, we like to start setting up approximately two days before your event (depending on availability). Therefore if your event is on a Saturday, we would come and install the marquee on Thursday so that all of the finishing touches can be made on Friday. We then return the following Monday or Tuesday to pull the marquee down (again depending on availability).
Question: How long does a marquee take to install and do I need to be there while it is being set up?
Answer: A large sized structure generally takes about six hours to install, we then need additional time to place the furniture, hang the lights and build the flooring so it come sometimes take up to two days to complete the installation. We do not require you to be on site during the duration of the build, our very talented staff know exactly what they are doing, however we do suggest that you are there to meet them on the initial morning of the installation to confirm the location and required layout for approximately half an hour and then you can go on about getting ready for your big event.
Question: What preparation do I need to do before the marquee is being installed?
Answer: Prior to the marquee installation, we need you to ensure that the site is clear and ready for us to arrive and that there is clear vehicle access to the site. You need to locate and mark any underground services to ensure that nothing is disturbed when we install the anchoring stakes into the ground. If you are choosing not to have a full floor in your marquee then ground preparation is the key! You want to close off the area to any farm animals and give it a weekly mow and fertiliser regime for at least six months before the big day. Do not conduct any major earthworks or excavations on the site within six months or else the marquee could end up very muddy on the day
Question: What do I need to do before the marquee is dismantled?
Answer: Any items that have been hired by Over the Top Events are to be packed up by our qualified staff to minimise damage. All we ask you to do is ensure that all rubbish has been removed, that the glasses have been packed back into their correct boxes, and that all items in the space that are not ours have been removed.
